Murtaza Bhai,

Is this a stepping stone event for newbies or a networking event for professional traders? What was the participation like in the last event?

Last time was a 100 ppl in TC2012.

This time we already have around a 120 registrations (as against 200 we were targetting).
Mainly it is for newbies ... as u say, a stepping stone type with basics etc so that they at least have a good footing when they enter the markets

BUT

Some advanced traders will be present too ... so some networking too will be there.
There are some corporate attendances present too !!!

And .. Bloomberg .. just got in touch yday !!! Head of Biz going to meet organiser in Bangalore for some 30 min spot !!! That is news eh ...

1 regn from the US and 1 from Dhaka. An enquiry from Japan !!!! They are going global too

Abhijit Phtak of Pune - with Twitter ID @ap_pune has written a small blog post wrt Trader's Carnival. imo it replies to most of the queries rather self explanatory.

I am quoting it here again with the link to the original post.

http://swingtrader-ap.blogspot.in/20...gust-2014.html

Quote:
TRADERS CARNIVAL AT GOA IN AUGUST 2014

Traders Carnival 2014 is being held in Goa from 15th to 17th August. This is the third edition of the carnival after the first one in Bangalore in 2012 and second one Pune in 2013.

This event is entirely the brainchild of Dharmaraj from Bangalore (a.k.a DJ) - @ra1nb0w on Twitter).
It is a 3-day residential conference, where traders from all over the country and some from abroad will be attending.
More details can be seen at Traders' Carnival

I have been asked the question quite a few times; " Is it for me?"
As long as you are trading in the stock market or even in the commodities market YES, this carnival is for you.
Some traders are under the impression that they will be a misfit, and might not understand anything. That is certainly not the case.
Anyone who is into trading, be it part-time or full-time, has learned something from the supreme teacher "Mr. Market" and it is this that he/she brings to the table there.

The market teaches everyone a different lesson. There is no trader who has made profits right from his / her first trade and is still making huge money continuously. There is always something more to learn. There will not be a single trader there who can claim to 'know all'. That is impossible !!

The beauty of this carnival is - one will get to meet and interact with 150+ fellow traders from the age 25 to 60. Every single person has learnt lessons from the market, and will be sharing that 'lesson' with others, be it as a speaker or just a participant. From my experience, there is something to learn even from a beginner, someone who is in the market for just 1-2 years. There is no one at the carnival who wants to keep his trading style / strategy a secret, because they all believe that only when they share, will they learn something from others.

If you wish to learn from the experience and mistakes of others, this is THE place for you.

However, if you feel after attending this carnival, you will start making a potful of money from the day you return home, the answer is a BIG NO !
This carnival is not one of those ‘formal’ events where the speakers are from abroad and charges are also very high.

What suits someone might not suit you. But, you will certainly get different ideas, and will be able to decide which idea can benefit you, which one needs a bit of tweaking at your end, to suit your temperament.

I will be speaking on 2 topics:
1. Low risk setups for trading in Options (purely chart based), and
2. This is more of a group discussion with some starting points from my side – on the requirements of being a full time trader (something that everyone dreams of).

Ah yes - one more thing - very advanced traders may feel nothing new to learn as max would be newbies/starting level traders etc. BUT again, advanced traders can impart some ideas too and then again - a newbie's idea can sometimes give an advanced trader some blitzkrieg of an idea .....

As of now - only Me.
Registrations started some 3/4 days back only. Most enquiries are from the Gujarat and South sides with registrations being mostly from the south.

Here's a comprehensive write-up including some details.

What is Traders’ Carnival?
www.traderscarnival.com

On a lazy Saturday afternoon a few years ago, a few friends got together at the Bowring Institute, Bangalore, with beer mugs in hand discussing various topics eventually leading to one close to the heart - trading. Over the next couple of hours notes were exchanged on trading systems and methodologies which eventually culminated on a thought to host an event exclusively where-in expert traders who have worked on these trading systems and employ them on daily basis will share them with no additional cost. It was required that participants pay only for their stay and food. The trading knowledge and wisdom was shared free...

Thus Traders’ Carnival 2012 was born.

80 traders attended it.

The canvas of this meeting expanded to traders from outside Bangalore, and in 2012, we had traders coming in from all over India. Do look at the demographics of participants on the website, www.traderscarnival.com.

#TC2012 was held at the ECC – Ecumenical Christian Centre at Whitefield, Bangalore, set in a sprawling 28 acres of greenery,
The first chapter of the event in its present avatar –Traders’ Carnival 2012 – (#TC2012 hashtag on twitter) kicked off on October 26th, 2012 at Bangalore, a two day residential event. Over a hundred traders participated in this event comprising of holistic and detailed Strategy sessions, Trade Psychology sessions, and indulged in brainstorming, late into the night. This turned out into a sit-down hangout for traders.

We had ten experts sharing their strategies at the event. They trade these strategies themselves, and over half of them continue to trade for a living.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

#TC2013 is an annual event for the Retail Trader in India. Conceptualized, managed and run by a community of traders with no fancy claims and magic wand….neither do we have a parrot which picks stocks in the morning…

This is an attempt is to let the retail trader know - There is a method to the madness.

#TC2013 – August 15, 16, 17 at the Courtyard Marriott, Pune

Sponsors:
We had both domain related and other sponsors at #TC2013.
Each of the following sponsors were represented at the event.
1. Discount brokerages
2. Real time Data feeds – both for clients such as Amibroker and Ninjatrader, as well as Java enabled browsers
3. Strategy testing Intelligence providers
4. Technical analysis based book sellers
Apart from the above we had a beverage sponsor, Sula Vineyards, from Nasik.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

#TC2014 – Goa!

#TC2014 is planned at Goa at the Radisson Blu Resorts on August 15, 16 and 17, 2014.

Registration for #TC2014 at Goa

The registration charges are Rs 18,000/- per person. It includes the following

1. Attend all strategy sessions for the full duration of the event
2. Attend all break-out sessions – basic, intermediate and advanced, over the three days
3. Twin-sharing accommodation at the Radisson Blu Resorts, Goa, the venue for #TC2014
4. All meals for the duration of the event, along with coffee, tea, snacks, cookies
5. Complimentary champagne on one day of the event by the beverage sponsors, Sula Vineyards (to be confirmed by June 2014)
6. A great chance to meet with over 150/200 traders from all over India and abroad. Also a chance to have one on one meetings with the speakers at #TC2014, who are successful traders and who trade for a living and all sponsors at the venue. Here, we have signed up with Composite Edge, a discount broker with the Algo platform. More to follow. Like Real time data feeds, strategy backtesting intelligence.
7. On an occasion like this, brainstorming with other delegates. And there is no time limit. All attendees, speakers and sponsors stay at the same venue. Last year, the sessions went on well over midnight, till around 2 am. This year may not be much different.

Ps: I have been asked why costs for Traders’ Carnival participation has gone up progressively from the time it started in 2012? Even though only stay/food and logistics have been charged, and the strategy sessions have been free?

Rs 6000 at #TC2012 in Bangalore
Rs 12000 at #TC2013 at the Marriott, Pune and now..
Rs 18000 at #TC2014 at The Radisson Blu Resorts, Goa…

Here is a brief explanation.

#TC2012 – Bangalore – The first instance of Traders Carnival was held here in a Christian group campus. Basic facilities were offered here. (hot water was available at a premium ) 80 traders participated at #TC2012

#TC2013 – Pune – Held at the Marriott Courtyard, Pune. A four star business category hotel. Costs passed on to participants. Over 140 traders participated at #TC2013

And now…

#TC2014 – Goa – The venue is the sprawling The Radisson Blu Resort. A five star luxury resort. Located in plush environs. Costs are progressively higher here.

Also important,
a. Airport/train transfers => 15 people is included as part of the package
b. WiFi is included as part of the package for the entire duration of the event

Register for #TC2014 here…
www.traderscarnival.com/register-here/

Should you have any questions on the above or need more information do mail me at dharmarajj at gmail dot com.

Look forward to meeting you at Traders Carnival - #TC2014, Goa!

Cheers
