The main problem with most algo trading plugins is that they will do a bridge between a software like amibroker and the execution algorithm. Mostly these bridges will not give you details like notification on order cancel, order fill, order accepted, etc. W/o such events coding a auto trading algo can get really tricky.

Some things to think about, there are tons more if you really come to think about it:
  • Do you want to only work with market orders?
  • Are you ok with not knowing if your target got filled partially or fully.
  • How do you deal with a scenario where you end up getting filled for both target and stop loss. This can happen if market has a sharp move against you after it hits the target and if target and sl are close enough. E.g. situations like rbi announcements where you can see 30-40 pt move and reversal in a few seconds on nifty.
  • Is the solution using an API to interface with the terminal or is the solution trying to use windows gui automation to submit orders to the terminal. What happens if the terminal changes the order entry windows enough to break such software?
  • How do you handle runaway trades being submitted by the system. Maybe read up about knight capital and see what they did in the us markets.
  • How do you handle situations when internet connection is not stable.
  • How does the system handle days like July 10, 2017, when nse had a glitch and post glitch after market started most retail traders got bad data.

I feel that most of these algo trading solutions are a darling for brokers because they can generate tons of brokerage with minimal interaction from the client. It is not like people dont make money off algo trading, but there are very very few who are able to do with retail algo trading solutions like the ones being discussed here.

Depends on what kind of algo trading one wants to do. Many types are best avoided by retail traders.

Nobody mentioned the Zerodha KITE API developed by Rainmatter? Its flawless data websockets and order placement API's is one of a kind in Indian markets. Have been using it for months now to place orders from python.

Request to please advise in little details.
Also, can it be integrated with AMIBROKER?

While in theory you can use amibroker to implement auto trading, it will require tons of coding. And even then the amibroker execution model will make some things very difficult.

As such when you are coding a algo trading system, you want to be coding it as a event based system which responds to events with messages. With amibroker, you cant really execute event based systems. What you do is run the same code on a loop every second.
