Yeah Sir CV ,
Heard that some time back.

Good thing is that IB is in India. Sooner or later we can also have permission to automate the trades.
But the charges by IB is quite higher compared to other brokerage firms in India.
Second , minimum amount of 5,000$ is another thing.

Hope they will make it a little easier in other time Frames.
Darsh

5,000$ minimum? Ok if I open an A/C with that amount(which I don't have in reality) and soon account decreased to 100$,which is quite highly probable, how they can punish me?

Maybe we should call an IB representative to interact here. This will be mutually beneficial.

That is a good idea, thanks. But I do not know how that is possible. Request to the inditraders management to have a look at this suggestion.

Regards

I see 5k bucks is not kinda high when we want to have features like automation of trades and API access for their trading platform or client front end

The only issue with IB's Backfill.

Quoted from Amibroker.com

http://www.amibroker.com/ib.html
====

NOTE ABOUT IB/TWS PERFORMANCE:

IB / TWS is not really up to professional standards when considering it as real time data source. Its backfill is very limited (1 symbol at a time) and VERY VERY slow. IB throttles backfills and you can not send more than 60 requests within 5 minutes (it equals to one month of 1-minute data for 12 symbols only).

AmiBroker can not really show its full potential using IB/TWS because of IB limitations. We strongly recommend using TRUE real time data providers such as IQFeed or eSignal. Backfills using IQFeed or eSignal are upto 100 times faster !

InterActive Brokers have deliberatly kept the margins high to avoid the "gamblers"

They would rather deal with institutions who offer volumes and margins as opposed to small traders who wouldn't account for much volume neither margins. [As gleaned from an elitetrader customer thread]

Just my 2 paisa
