NIFTY50 stocks and futures one minute data in Ninjatrader format updated till DEC 2014 at following links:

NTFormatdata

Data is in .txt files and ready to be imported in Ninjatrader. However some symbols using hyphen are not acceptable in NT and would need to be changed before import.

The data format is:
YYYYMMDD hhmmss; OPEN;HIGH;LOW;CLOSE;VOLUME

Adding and removing instruments in Ninjatrader 7

Importing Historical data in Ninjatrader 7

P.S. My earlier data vendor shut shop and the new one has his/her own fancies regarding which scrips to include! While NIFTY50 scrips are all here, there have been changes in other scrips.

I'll try to post the steps for importing data of one symbol, then the same steps can be used to import data for other symbols. Please give me some time, I am a bit slow.

P.S. Please don't address me as "Sir", I don't deserve it! plain "rm" is good enough.

Default Importing historical data in Ninjatrader

Detailed steps to understand the concepts of instrument management and data storage are available at the following links.

Adding and removing instruments in Ninjatrader 7

Importing Historical data in Ninjatrader 7

Here we are trying to import one stock's historical data (ACC) in Ninjatrader. Steps will be same for all stocks.

Creating Instrument
  • Open Instrument manager - Tools➜Instrument Manager
  • Click on "New" button, that will open Instrument Editor
  • Under Definition tab enter the name "ACC" in Master Instrument box.
  • Select Instrument type as Stock.
  • Select Tick size as .05
  • Select Currency as IndianRupee
  • Select Session template as Nse
  • In the list of Exchanges select Default and Nse
  • Under Misc tab in Symbol map list enter ACC against External
  • Click on OK, this will create instrument ACC.
  • Now select Default in the Instrument lists drop down box
  • Select ACC in the Available master instruments list
  • Click on Arrow pointing to the left
  • This will add Symbol ACC to Instrument list.
  • Click OK on Instrument Manager

Importing Historical Data
  • Click on Tools➜Historical Data Manager
  • Select Format as "Ninja Trader (timestamps in import file(s) represent end of bar time)
  • Data type as Last
  • Time zone of imported data as (UTC+05:30) Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi
  • If tick data is being imported one can generate "Minute" bars by ticking on first check box.
  • if "Day" bars are to be generated from tick or minute data then second check box should be ticked.
  • Here we are importing minute data hence only second box is checked.
  • Click on Start Import
  • Select the file being imported from your computer
  • Data will be imported and message generated.
Displaying Chart
  • Click on File➜New➜Chart
  • Double click on symbol ACC
  • Select the Type of Period
  • Enter Value
  • In charts style, select Chart style etc.
  • Under Data chose how many day's data needs to be loaded and Session template as Nse
  • Chart Template can be selected from a drop down list
  • Click on OK
This will launch the chart for symbol ACC.
