investigate anyone understood bajaj finserv results?

published on 20 oct 2011 business standard.
refer other sources in case of unavailability

in the first line , they come up with gross revenue (well segmented) 3,28,048 lakhs, which is down by 7% than previous quarter.
in the next line, income from operations is given as 71,366 lakh, which is 51 % higher than the previous quarter.
after this everything is alright.

(1) what i want to say - what is the relation between gross revenue and income from operations?
(2) if gross revenue is down by 7%, how come income from operations be 51% higher?

Premium Collected was not treated as income. But, it was shown as part of gross revenue for reporting purposes. To know why they have shown it like this, we may have to refer to the Accounting Standards for insurance business.

In effect, they have shown the income from financial services and wind business as income from operations, and income from these segments have shown a growth of 51%.

income from operations higher 51% means their core biz is doing well and that is good for the stock.
as SM said, gross includes other income, which is less this Q.

mahender, it is strange that I could not see your post earlier.
anyway, when we add investment income to interest income, this itself exceeds 71,366 even without adding windpower and other income.
lack of transperency or chicanery or carelessness?

Newbie and FIRST POST. I think it was moderated and needed approval.
Being holiday mood et al .. remained unapproved and did not show up on the thread.
Once approved, since timestamp was earlier than Rajesh, it showed up.
