Default AMC Companies for new Desktop

Hello guys.

I'm looking for a good company which provides efficient AMC services [Annual Maintenance Contract] for a desktop PC which I want to buy. They should have efficient engineers who will be apt to render on site services to my desktop,if needed.

I live in kolkata. If anybody has any name in mind, please mention.

Note : I had a bad experience with a crappy company named RV Infosys here.

Why not look at branded computers?

HP, Apple, Dell, Lenovo & HCL typically provide good on site service for their systems.

None of these companies will provide you with same day service, though. And rectification can take a couple of days. But in general, these companies will give you on site service and take proper care for your hardware.

Depending on the model, a new computer will come with 1-3 years of warranty and may or may not come with on site service. But with every manufacturer you can pay extra and get a 3 year on site warranty. Post the 3 years, most companies will not give an AMC.

Normally I get a new computer, get 3 years extended warranty with onsite service and get another new computer after the 3 years are over. At that point I would either sell off the old computer or keep it around as a spare/backup machine that is kept around for as long as it works. Most people would anyway upgrade their primary work computer in a span of 2-3 years.

Thanks for your views Sir.I don't want to go with brands as their models don't match my configuration at any reasonable price.

In that case you will need to find a reliable local assembler, something that is very very difficult to come by. Make sure that you find a shop/vendor that is owned by people who have good knowledge of computers and not ones that depend on the hired help, because any half decent guy will not last for long with the low wages that local computer guys give their employees.

I have been into computer hardware for a long time and I used to assemble and service my own systems. For a while I used to also make and service systems for clients. But these days I would rather go with a branded system than assemble one myself unless there are some very specific requirements that are not met by branded computer.
