BSNL is what i use,and not the unlimited one,the unlimited has slower speed,i pay the extra GB downloads, but in that way i feel it is value for money,i also have Sify as back up.

I use a 2mbps unlimited Airtel DSL plan.. Downtime has been very low and the best part is that any complaints made during the day are attended in less than 4 hours..

I use this connection mainly for downloads and compared to most other providers I have observed that Airtel's connection always tend to give the full speed of the connection with no effects of congestion except when there were problems with undersea cables..

In terms of bandwidth quality latency and downtime, this DSL link is comparable to the extremely expensive ISP grade microwave, copper and fiber optic leased lines I have used at work.. And those links typically came with a guaranteed 2 hour resolution..

I have been using this Airtel for a long time now, initially the connection was a 128kbps unlimited one and has been upgraded over the years as and when Airtel came up with faster unlimited plans..

If you are not using Airtel DSL and they serve your area, do give their services a try.. they are more expensive than the competition, but they are in general significantly better than the competition...

BSNL 256Unlimited has begun to cap upload speed to 128kbps now. Earlier they used to give full 256/256. Anyone else having this problem?

I am seeing from today only.

I guess it's a one off issue. Working fine now.

Day traders need both Upload and download speed!

I think many ISP`s have upload speed limited.

Our orders will be routed to exchange based on the Upload speed!

May be a great upload speed could allow split second order executions!

I am using BSNL since its existence....No issues at all... The downtime is countable in so many years...Very happy with the service...
Also have a reliance netconnect...for backup...Which i hardly use :P

But regarding BSNL Customer Service :: U need to really have patience talking to them...Ask any info...They first start troubleshooting ::Open IE >Type 192.168.1.1

Customer Service Needs to be improved ....A long way to go for them....
Service wise its excellent

Default Intech Broadband Thane

You will not believe this one, but this is what I am using.

My ISP is a local one, Intech Broadband (Thane East). I have been using this for the last 2 years by now, and there are no hassles except for a brief period once.

Speed: Upto 8 mbps, but usually I get around 4 to 5 mbps consistently.
Monthly data transfer limit: 10 GB (for my plan)
Monthly charges: 650 (6500 annual basis)

:: Intech Broadband :: High Speed Internet, Corporate, Broadband, Wireless, VoIP, Internet Leased lines, Network Security, Mail Solution.......

Does any of your ISP's beat this one?

It seems too good to be true, but it is

Forgot to mention, it allows multi-user, as in it allows Wifi router too.

I'm on BSNL ADSL 256 Unlimited with an Airtel 128 Unlimited ADSL connection for backup. Both connections have been performing flawlessly since the day they were installed. Never had to call either BSNL or Airtel helpdesks ever!!

I would rather be on an unlimited plan than having a hassle to see if my data transfer limits are being exceeded or not. My monthly usage is around 55gb+ on both the connections.

Usually the latencies on Ethernet based shared broadband (mostly using elitecore cyberoam and the like) are higher than those on pure ADSL connections, which sometimes could lead to problems in order execution.
