Finally after some delays, this Lappy was purchased yesterday --

VPCCW15FG : VAIO CW Series : VAIO Laptop & Computer : Sony India

Sony Vaio VPCCW15FG - Pink Color

The pink color model was purchased because mostly it would be used by my friends wife, and it is her favorite color.

The MRP as written on the box is - Rs 47990 "inclusive of all taxes".

The pc guy didnot give us any discount and he charged the complete amount as such 47990

Am I charged more or if the situation is same in other cities as well for the sony laptops ?

I am sorry, I forgot to mention that he did gave us a small set of earphones "creative ep 50 " which has a MRP of 350 on the pack, as a free gift.

but its price seems a bit less then that -

Yes Sir, right now I am also feeling the same, as I might have overpaid in a hurry.

But as these days many guys are buying directly from the Dell India website, and there too they have to pay the complete listed price, so I thought that maybe this is a new trend starting in India, where the companies might be printing the REAL COMPETITIVE price on the box itself, so I paid the MRP for this sony laptop.

Otherwise I also have this experience that MRP is meaningless in regard to PC components, as I have always been paying less then the MRP in the past.

But maybe that this thing is going to change now ... as Dell and Sony laptops are being sold at MRP

Offers a hell lot of discounts!!! Just tell them you are working for xyz company - (5% discount)

Tell them you are 1000 rs. short of the purchase... They will offer to take away something...Just talk on and on and on...Even request them to put to a person responsible if they are not authorised to give more discount...

Finally they will give you about 8-10% discount(nearly 3-4K)!!! Ask for any freebies here!!!

Talking is an art! Bargaining is bad when you are seller!!!

Man are you sure that you can get around 8 % discount from the Dell listed prices, while purchasing from their site !

And we guys "at my place" were thinking that we cannot get even one rupee less from that amount

Sales wont "happen" with out discount! At least in these high margin direct sales!

I aksed 2-3 other pc vendors in my place and they told me that they get 7 % discount on Sony Laptops out of which they give around 5% discount to the customer. They even told that the Big vendors get around 10% from Sony. Now there is no doubt that I made a very silly mistake by purchasing this laptop at the MRP.

But I have learned my lesson. Now I will not repeat this mistake and will always check with atleast 2-3 shop guys atleast. And if some friend at inditraders tells about some good online deal then I might do the purchase online itself, that way I will not have to rely on local pc guys.

I went through this thread as my friends wants to buy a laptop ,he is a doctor please suggest which one he should go for
