finally my dream of running a supercomputer has come true
SSD has now become my C drive with windows & all applications installed and 1TB HDD as my storage drive. few visible differences:
  • within 6 mins windows 8.1 installed
  • max 5-6 secs to bootup after starting CPU
  • at the max i saw data transfer @190 MB/s from HDD to SSD and vice versa. but within SSD, even before I could blink, 20 GB folder got copied.
  • applications getting installed like never before and opening up like they were already opened!
  • maneuvering among various memory sucking apps was like sipping a smoothie!
will test under mkt conditions to see if this really helps me in earning few extra gandhis or mere few extra gandhis dheele ho gaye? ab aur kya bataoon..bas pyar ho gaya hai
thks once again to @no1 & @santosh!

btw everything favoring my signature

Now you will have a new problem. You will find almost any system w/o a SSD to be too slow

What is the cost of a 256GB SSD as of today?
What would 500GB or 1TB cost like?
Which company product should one look to buy?

Amazon / Flipkart prices I do not trust on something which is uncommon in the market. It would be a rip-off imo.

Samsung 850 evo is the ssd to get if you want something that is good and not too expensive. For prices and ordering amazon, flipkart and snapdeal all are good. Lots of forum members and friends of mine have bought SSDs from these sites and have gotten very good prices.

When getting a SSD, make sure to check the model that you get. Samsung has been releasing newer models every year or so. Typically the newer models are much faster and cheaper than the older models.

Currently you want to get either a 850 evo or a 750 evo if you are looking to get a sata ssd for laptops and older computers. The 750 is cheaper than the 850, but with similar performance.

If you have a system that can take a m2 format pci-e ssd, then look at getting the 960 pro or 960 evo. The 960 pro is not really worth the extra cash unless you need a very high performance ssd. The 960 evo is roughly the speed of a 950 pro from last year and much cheaper.

As always, check for latest reviews on http://anandtech.com

Here is the review for the 960 evo and comparison with other models: http://www.anandtech.com/show/10833/...evo-1tb-review
