at the outset i would like to thk jj sir for starting this thread as i was not finding any active participation in MP threads since i started learning about it!!

i have been trying to learn MP for quite a some time now. i have learned whatever is provided on marketdelta site and other MP related sites. but still have some basic questions which i cudnt get cleared out as there is no one to guide - thus facing some dilemma and problems! pls help on the following:
  1. while trading stocks which data to use cash or futures? i mean which gives better picture? i have observed that when any impulsive trade happens (news based or any other trigger based), futures are traded 1st because of their leveraged nature? but those instances are rare. kindly clear this doubt!
  2. which is better market profile (MP) or volume profile (VP)? what is the basic difference? i have read that on the contrary professionals are using VP over MP? why?
  3. which is the alternate of market delta software as it is a paid one? i mean free ones or an AFL for amibroker? pls post that AFL. thks in advance!
  4. in amibroker, under CHARTS option, there is local AFL which is Volume At Price, which plots same profile as that of kaka sir's AFL!! so what is the difference between them!
  5. is the AFL provided by kaka sir in MP thread a MP or VP one?
  6. if i get VA (70%), VAL, VAH, POC etc, for past 5 odd sessions, how important is RT profile in taking trade decisions as most of the trading is based on last sessions's or last few odd sessions data (which in turn is based on those 5 opening strategies)?

i know these are a lot of doubts & questions. but pls bear with me and help. thks a ton in advance to all of you for your help!!

Not sure if this is the right forum to post a request as below, however am tempted to do so considering the burst in popularity (owing to JJs posts of course!!)

Request help for afl to plot on Kaka's MP for MA of POC, VAH and VAL

Thanx in advance

at least 300 odd views to this thread since this post, but no comments from anyone!

experts & respected, experienced inditraders are sincerely requested to please contribute to not only help me, but others too who have got so excited to see something new and exciting coming up after a long time - otherwise the usual stuff & chit chat! mostly are visiting these types of thread in anticipation of learning & getting these types of queries resolved. in this case may be learn MP in the right way!! otherwise the noble thot of starting this thread wud become a monologue from JJ sir who has time constraints (we understand the forum mgmt & other stuff) & people coming here wud proudly exchange thanks without actually THANKING each other i may upset few of them wid this comment. but the intention is not that

i can only request once again - i knw there is no compulsion to respond but still just a thot

1) Its answer is very straight forward from your question itself - If you are trading stocks then better will be tracking cash price, more or less its future will behave inline.

2) You are making a mistake of comparing a Theory ( Market Profile ) with a Profiling Feature ( Volume Profile ) used under that. Rather your correct question should be - Whether to use TPO Profile or Volume Profile and their adv/disadv.
TPO Profiling is Legendary Analysis feature that was adopted in starting phase of Market Profile development when getting Volume at each price was not easy. As you can understand with technological burst it was easy to get Volume Information at each price and hence use of Volume in place of TPO was self accepted. Basically visualize and understand these terms as

TPO -> How much time on particular Price
Volume -> How much volume on particular Price.

Not to explain that more and more traders/professionals shifted and started using Volume Profile and certainly it is more advantageous compare to TPO based profile. But as a Legendary status TPO Profile is still much widely used successfully by professional traders.
When we get accustomed to Market Profile theory then its just traders interest which one he adopt and with which he is comfortable. This question just turns like that - should i use MACD or RSI to trade ? Answer is same - with which you are comfortable.

3) There is no alternate and substitute for Market Delta as its construction framework is native to Market Profile theory. Though TPO and Volume Profile are getting more and more inbuilt feature or via 3rd Party s/w in most charting platform.

4 and 5) I dont use Amibroker so cant answer these.

6) This is very vast question and can not be answered in one "way". Rather its very strategic how one uses MP levels and depends on person to person, experience, discretion etc. So come to this when you get enough screen time with profiling.
