Hi Vikkas,
Try the video downloader helper plugin for firefox.
I haven't used R, so can't comment on it and I can't comment much on matlab either. I've started learning matlab only a couple of days back and I find it extremely user unfriendly ; but at this stage of the curve, I don't think it should matter. So far, I've managed to import data, create variables and matrices and run linear regression. I find it difficult to find exclusive trading related stuff for matlab. I'd really appreciate any inputs!

Thanks

Minitab... later on R.... all are statistical packages.....till date I found that there is not much room for Retail traders like.. If u are working for some institutions then it is altogether different story.... Also Matlab office is in Banglore.... thanks, vikkas

The Algorithm Trading Industry is divided into algos which are intended to make money and others designed to save money.
Contrary to popular myth, it's more about saving money and transaction cost analysis. Little use for the retail end trader But then, the sophisticated, independent, income generating retailer is a very tiny sample in the universe of trading Algorithms to make money and save money what's the difference? Here is an small introduction in pdf format to some syntax etc to MATLAB.

Leaving the graphic visualization aside, matlab seems to offer very little in the trading front. It's choking with large amounts of data (>50mb ascii) and a lot of features have to be coded from scratch (reminds me when I checked out amibroker a few years back). I'm not quite able to see the incremental advantage from multicharts that matlab offers by putting in all this effort.
