Default Amibroker - Volume At Price AFL

Friends, is there any good Amibroker - Volume At Price AFL?

The default one is not feature rich.

Anyone found anything better?

You can use function PriceVolDistribution() of AB 6.13 for that.
http://www.amibroker.com/devlog/wp-c...eadme6140.html

It can be used to create volume profile for intraday intervals or for a set custom range (latter one as per basic demo of dev log).

I dont have the latest ami beta. But if this works like the old vapoverlay method, then you will need to manually mark the poc yourself.

IMO if you want to do market profile charts, then look at market delta or the various mp plugins for Ninja. Ami's mp afls are clunky and not so great if you want proper mp charts.

Sorry, but that's completely incorrect. There is absolutely no sense in making a new function with same functionality as another existing function but just with a different name. I think you would agree on that one, wouldn't you?

So what does it mean in detail? PriceVolDistribution() is much more advanced/powerful than existing PlotVAPOverlay since latter one is just a basic plot function while the new one provides any data selection (to fill its columns with), full data access and provides ability to plot that stored data or output that stored data as table via explorer or whatever output etc.

New function PriceVolDistribution() is of type matrix (!) and has two columns. First column stores price level data, second column stores the volume data. So user has full access to the data and full control on what data to calculate for distribution creation. That means also that you don't have to draw vpoc manually at all. Also it means you don't have to draw value area etc. manually.

As for plotting market profile and volume profile. There is no difference to Ninjtatrader. It is just up to the coder (his responsibility) making a proper code. The public codes are just not good enough (that is the actual more correct truth about it). But that's not the problem of AmiBroker or any other advanced programming tool with open architecture. In Amibroker you have full control over every pixel of a chart sheet. That means you can draw graphics not even possible within Ninjatrader (AFAICS). It means AmiBroker rather has simliar universal drawing capabilities as i.e. R or MatLab.

Quote by AmiBroker developer T. Janeczko: "You could even draw Mona Lisa in AmiBroker".

As for examples on volume profile and market profile.
You can make similar market profiles (see picture of post #7)
http://amibrokerforum.proboards.com/...1&scrollTo=337

And you can make any custom volume profile quite easily with additional table output, for example. This refers to function PriceVolDistribution().

From the description on the devblog, it looked like the old function with addition of being able to pass arrays for price and volume. I did not go into any greater detail.

As for comparison with Ninja, you should check out the fin-alg.com mp charting indicator. It does things that are not doable in amibroker. e.g. break and combine profiles using the gui.

I have also yet to see an ami based mp indicator that is efficient when plotting proffiles with letter based tpos. Maybe with this new function things will change.

Till then I would still suggest people to use Ninja + fin-alg.com or some other similar mp indicator. Or use Market Delta. I personally ran ami for everything but mp charts, which i ran on Ninja when i was using MP charts.

Now if this new feature makes fin-alg.com style mp indicators possible in ami, then that would be really great.

Every member can download and install new functionalities (-> virtual machine). Basically you can use any kind of data which includes bid/ask tick data to store it in PriceVolDistribution().

You can do the same in AmiBroker. Once again a chart sheet is like an empty paper sheet on your desk. What you are able to draw on that sheet of paper is up to the artist (either he is a capable one or he is just able to paint four walls of a room with just one color and with his left hand).

I have posted a link in my previous post to an mp AB example showing mp with letters.

If you are looking for some readily built in feature then go here https://www.amibroker.com/feedback/ and tell T.J.
It is of no use for you if you tell it just to you but AB can't hear you.

BTW here you have an example of profile combination of intraday volume profile and of volume profile profile calculating distribution of visible chart area (or of range selected by range markers).

There have been another examples of profiles in AB posted.
Intra-bar profiles (Sierra Chart calls it numbers bars, MarketDelta calls it FootPrint) as welll as mult session profiles.
