The 2 bars have only i thing in common - L > MA; but if you scan with this criteria alone you'll get signals for bars where the L is 20-30% (or higher) above the specified MA. Is this what you want? If not, what would you like the distance to be? Would you look for a cross of the MA within the 'n' last bars??

Moreover, that still does not define 'stands out like an island' Normally, this would be a bar whose low would be greater than the high of the 2 bars preceding & following it Is this what you want? Or is it simply the bar that has a high higher than the ones preceding & following it??

Point is, for coding (whether by yourself or by someone else), you have to define/specify the requirement precisely first.

Thanks .I want to simply explore for the scrips of which are having
' bars which are not touched by the MA today' .
It searches for only Today's scrip at Eod .
Yes you are right.Simply Low is greater than MA.The distance is not the main criteria.
"simply the bar that has a High higher than the ones preceding and its Low not touched by MA".
Please teach how to write this as an Explorer instead of giving formula

I can only provide the Ami code as not familiar with MS lang

Quote:
pd = Param("MA length", 20, 5, 200);
n = Param ("No. of preceding bars", 3, 1, 20);

cond = (L > MA(C,pd)) AND (H > Ref(HHV(H,n),-1));

Filter = cond;

AddColumn(L, "Low");
AddColumn(MA(C,pd), "MA");

You can check for MAs with periodicities ranging from 5 to 200 and also pick the no. of preceding bars to check for (3 to 20).

I have a custom indicator in MS say XYZ . I want to create an MA of it .
How to create it ? Should I use " fml" function to reference it for further scanning ?

Request help with the following in Meta exploration

Ref(C,-1)

This is returning a comparison with present hourly close vs previous day's close.

Whereas I would like to have a comparison with last hourly close. ( I am selecting hourly data files for running this exploration)

Request help

That is a ridiculous scan criteria. Can't understand why anyone would do that.
