Default Bloomberg Platform

Has anyone here used the Bloomberg Platform ?

Professional - Bloomberg
About - Bloomberg

What are your views about the same ?
What good features has it got which makes it special ?
How much does it costs for the Indian Markets ?

Please share your views / experience about it.

Thanks

PS: Bloomberg is one of the official data vendors of NSE and it provides the real time tick data.

Is it possible to use this data with your own trading platform like Amibroker, Market Delta etc. ? Does anyone have any knowledge in this regard ?

Its meant for institutional traders. So, if your budget is sub 10K INR per Month ... Dont even *THINK* about it.

Thumbs up

Thanks for your reply stumper

I am mainly looking for the experience of the guys who have used it.

I am sure, Streaming News is not the only factor which makes institutional traders interested in it. " and I am aware that you do not mean that too " Let us see if some experienced trader shares the other plus points....

And regarding the budget part, I am very well aware that it would cost more, but if it is really worth it, then no issue.

Thanks again

Bloomberg's primary USP is the useablity of their terminal and the speed at which they push the news out. A properly configured bloomberg terminal can make accessing a huge variety of news very easy and fast.

Bloomberg has dedicated teams to monitor and report on the markets. If you can afford a bloomberg feed, then I would recommend that you contact them and get a demo.

I havent used the bloomberg terminal myself, but I know people who work for bloomberg, so all this info is second hand and some of it may be incorrect.

Not news- bloomberg specializes in financial data. For eg. within clicks you can find the implied volatility of many instruments, pair them for arbitrage and find the reversion-to-mean interval. Or check a category of news stories and their statistical impact on market for last 10 years.

It is NOT a privilege of institutional traders. If you are a pro, call them and they will be happy to provide a demo.

Having a Bloomberg terminal is a matter of pride.

Recently Newswire18 has come with a similar terminal, cheaper and customized for Indian markets.

This is interesting to me.

Thats a wrong notion from a individual traders perspective. If it does not add anything to your strategy why waste those precious dollars on something which only gives us pride.

I was not sure whom they source the data from .. reuters? .. Is it only news that they offer?
