Confusion is how to create a symbol list/ticker list in data base using csv data files. Next doubt is how to import csv data files everyday to this database. If solution to these two problems are explained in detail, it would be of great help.

Thanks in advance

If you make any mistake no need to worry.Donot save portfolio .Just close Gannanalyst and reopen it.
If you do not have MS data ,CSV is the easiest method. If you donot have CSV You can request AMI experts to tell how to export Ami data to CSV.
Hope this helps.

I started with a single symbol S&PCNXNIFTY
I was able to configure CSV files as asked and saved the portfolio.
Date (yyyymmdd), Open, High, Low, Close, Volume
But no symbol appears in the symbol list and I think because of this no chart appears.
How to proceed.
Please help

Default Configuring CSV

In your Gannanalyst folder ( installed folder ) there is a pdf file which explains clearly all the details for confiuring CSV files (text files) and answers to your doubts.

Thanks for the reply. I had posted my earlier query after doing that. Perhaps my earlier post was not clear. But the problem is this

For example, you get NSE EOD file every day which contains nearly 1500 ticker symbols with data pertaining to that date. In every other software, you can import that file as a whole. But in Ganalyst if you configure that csv file as suggested in pdf file, you get 1500 bars in respect of single stock (I do not know what is the name of that stock, because even now I have not been able to understand as to how to create a ticker list in data base) for one day.

That was my doubt.

The pdf file suggests that one must maintain one's own csv file in respect of each and every ticker symbol with dates in ascending order. When these csv files are clicked chart in respect of that file will be displayed. You imagine the pain of arranging data in respect of each and every stock from NSE EOD daily data file to the file format required by Ganalyst.

There must be some shortcuts somewhere. What is it?

I configured CSV files with the help of this pdf file. I saved the portfolio (as Nifty), but even then no chart is appearing. I configured the data w.e.f. 1.1.12 but no chart is appearing.

When clicking on portfolio, a blank chart frame appears with name Nifty on left hand top, and
Display: Daily - Trading - 0 Bars - Max Space - 10 Bars
inscribed on left hand top of the chart frame appears but no chart

Which step I am missing.
Please help

I requested Sr114 to upload Metastock Data as he did before. Configuring MS data is easy.
Please wait for sometime till it is available or Mr.Johnny Pareek tells the way to export from Ami. ( I think there is an AFL available for this ).

I have been successful using NSE data exported from AMI. Johny Parreek's comment was helpful. But have problem using BSE data.
