Squat body, 'excess' range (the hammer CS type) works quite well (for bounce from lows). With MP one'll probably see a 'P' with sharp rejection at the lows or a dbl distribution (with close arnd the upper lobe).

Some of the context is provided by the ob/os, S/R, the profile skew etc.

But its still flimsy 50-50 at best Plenty of times so-called price supports get broken like straw beds (Which is why a broader, more macro context is needed supported by an accumulation startegy OR you dig deeper into micros & enter with open above prev day VA high/low, guessing the likely day from the IB etc.)

Pinbar Set-Ups:

The pattern consists of three bars: the left eye, the nose and the right eye. The left eye should be a bar up for the bearish Pinbar pattern or a bar down for the bullish pattern. The nose bar should open and close inside the left eye, but its high (or low, for the bullish set-up) should protrude much farther than the left eye's high (or low). Both the nose bar's open and close should be located in the bottom (top, for the bullish set-up) 1/4 of the bar. The right eye is where the trading happens.

An additional condition for the good pattern set-up is the strong support/resistance level formed either behind the eyes or near the point of the nose. The stronger are the support/resistance levels you incorporate into this pattern, the more accurate it will be.

Hello,

Considering this is a "Price Action" thread, can you elaborate on the price action logic behind the pattern you described. As i could not make out the logic --- As to how does this explain the price action to us?

Also, are you describing this for trend continuation or in reversal?

Thanks for your post.

  • Either buying or selling is predominant
  • Market is moving higher or lower to find an opposite response

Identifying Balanced and Imbalanced Bars
A balanced bar will have the open and close of the bar in proximity to each other. The size of the body will be usually small, however extremely wide bars with similar characteristic will also be termed as balanced bars. These type of bars can signify end of moves and its useful to remember that large range balanced bars are more likely to happen at bottoms rather than tops.

An imbalanced bar will have moderate to large sized body where the close has moved away from the open of the bar.If the close is formed near the extreme then its a sign of strength in the move for moderate sized bars.

Hi JJ,

although the post is very old your but has very int concept of looking at price action. can you plz continue the topic.

regds,
s
