Its far far cheaper to pay a good mentor and learn trading . The problem with self learning is that we are unable to identify our bad trading and thinking habits , and rectify them. Trading is all about stopping our loss making habits and following profit making habits. A good Mentor can help us do that. Please think about that . I am sure if you are determined you will find answer to many questions cropping in your mind with proper diligence.

Trading for last 7 yrs I try to learn trading attending seminars webinars even discussing with good smart younger traders in this and other forums . The only thing I have learnt after 7 yrs that I have some deeply ingrained bad habits while trading . I know that , despite my best efforts the process of eradication of those habits is very slow. As soon as I am little bit less cautious I commit the same mistake.
Its important to get conditioned in right trading habit environment. Trading success can be accelerated if somebody is watching over your sholuder and rectifying your mistakes immediately. During trading you come across n number of situations , there must be a right method to behave under each situation . Many of us including me try to self learn that trading behavior by fits and starts and incur huge draw down in our equity , some get wiped out .

With proper planning in getting ourself trained and educated its possible to be successful.

Well said Shiree. One of the best works on better trading which I now regard as my bible as I read it "after" my methods were similar to what it suggests is Larry Levins "Secrets of Emotion Free trading". I have summarised that on my website for quick reading with my own ideas. You can google the ebook and download it.

Build your trading strategy! - TradeWithMe

Check out the Risk Management, Compliance Score Card and Trade scaling calculators that I have put. Review your trading method, you could be successful even with coin tossing.

Your ideas on using mentors is good, as Larry Levin says, a good trader with even a less than perfect trading system will make more money than the best technical system and an indisciplined trader.

I am happy to help traders who still have questions after reading the above, as Larry's thoughts are excellent and a good foundation for any budding trader. He himself has made his millions and is an active S&P trader on the Chicago exchange.
